Types of Techniques

Manual & Table Adjustment

Manual Adjustment
This is also knows as a “hands on” or the “traditional “ method. The doctor applies a specific thrust to the misaligned vertebra, the bone moves and the patient hears a popping sound.

Table Adjustment
The patient lies on a specialized table with a “drop piece.” The doctor applies a thrust to the misaligned vertebra, the table drops slightly and the adjustment is delivered with a combination of thrust and table drop. The dropping of the table allows for a light force adjustment, combined with a delivery of a high speed dynamic. This makes for an easy, light force adjustment for the patient without the twisting positions that can accompany the manual adjustment.

The Activator

Considered the most generic method of adjusting the spine, it is accomplished with the activator instrument. The patient lies on the table face down and the doctor applies the activator instrument to the misaligned vertebra and a gentle spring driven thrust is delivered. For most patients, this form of adjustment is painless and comfortable.

Flexion-Distraction or “Cox” Technique

Gentle, non-force adjusting procedure which works with the body’s natural design to aid it in healing properly.
